Abstract
Course scheduling is a complex problem within higher education systems that requires automated and efficient solutions. Genetic algorithms are widely employed due to their capability to explore large solution spaces. However, the efficiency of the algorithm highly depends on key parameters, one of which is the population size. This study aims to evaluate the impact of population size variation on computational time efficiency in the implementation of genetic algorithms for course scheduling.
The study was conducted through MATLAB-based simulations in a real academic environment, testing population sizes ranging from 20 to 1000. Other parameters were held constant to ensure that execution time was influenced solely by changes in population size. The results reveal a non-linear relationship between population size and computational time, with the highest efficiency achieved at a population size of 300-400 individuals, yielding an average execution time of approximately 0.4924 seconds. Extremely small or large population sizes were shown to produce suboptimal execution times.
These findings highlight the importance of empirical evaluation in algorithm parameter selection, particularly in systems with processing time constraints such as course scheduling.

Abstract
Nutritional issues among university students are still a serious concern as they can affect health, learning concentration and productivity. Students often experience imbalances in their nutrient intake due to irregular eating patterns, fast food consumption, and a lack of knowledge about their daily nutritional needs. This is especially important for non-health students, such as those in the Fashion Study Program, who generally do not receive formal education about nutrition. This study aims to describe the knowledge of nutritional needs and nutritional status among fashion students at Universitas Negeri Medan. This research is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 60 students selected by purposive sampling. Knowledge data was collected through a structured questionnaire, while nutritional status was determined through measurement of Body Mass Index (BMI). The results showed that most students had low nutrition knowledge (71.7%), while 28.3% were classified as moderate, and none had good knowledge. In terms of nutritional status, 56.7% of students had normal nutritional status, 20% were undernourished, and 23.3% were overnourished. This mismatch between knowledge level and nutritional status suggests that there are other factors that influence students^ eating behaviour. In conclusion, appropriate nutrition education interventions are needed to improve students^ understanding of the importance of nutrition to support a healthy lifestyle and academic achievement.

Abstract
Metal corrosion is a serious problem in the industrial world, causing material degradation, decreased efficiency, and increased operational costs. This study aims to develop a silica-based superhydrophobic coating from agricultural biomass waste as an environmentally friendly alternative to inhibit metal corrosion. Silica was extracted using the sol-gel method, modified using trimethylchlorosilane (TMCS), and formulated at a concentration of 1.0-5.0 percent in xylene solvent. The coating was applied to the surface of a metal plate using an ultrasonic dip-coating technique, then characterized using FTIR, XRD, and SEM. The FTIR spectrum demonstrated successful surface modification, characterized by the disappearance of the silanol group (SiOH) absorption band at 3420 cm-1 and the appearance of methyl groups (SiCH3) at 1260 cm-1 and Si-C groups at 840 cm-1. XRD indicated that the silica was amorphous, and SEM showed a fine particle morphology. The coating with a silica concentration of 3.0 percent demonstrated optimum performance with a water contact angle of 153.1 degrees and a shear angle of less than 10 degrees. Corrosion tests in 15 percent HCl and 3.5 percent NaCl media for 96 hours showed a decrease in the corrosion rate from 190.95 mpy to 37.42 mpy (HCl), and from 29.59 mpy to 2.13 mpy (NaCl), with inhibition efficiencies reaching 80.4 percent and 92.8 percent, respectively. These results indicate that the silica-TMCS coating from biomass waste is not only effective as a corrosion inhibitor but also has the potential to be developed as an environmentally friendly and sustainable functional coating.

Nutrition Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, University State of Medan, Medan, Indonesia
Abstract
Pineapple peel is an agro-industrial by product that retains considerable nutritional and bioactive compounds, making it a promising substrate for the development of functional fermented beverages. Spontaneous fermentation of pineapple peel yields a traditional beverage known as tepache, which contains microbial metabolic products with potential health benefits. This study aimed to evaluate the chemical and microbiological properties of fermented pineapple peel beverage after 48 hours of spontaneous fermentation at ambient temperature. The research employed an experimental design using a 100 mL sample of tepache. Analytical assessments included measurements of pH, total acidity, total soluble solids (Brix), and microbiological evaluation via total plate count (TPC). Data were descriptively analyzed. The result indicated that the fermented beverage had a pH of 3.1, total acidity of 0.918%, and a total soluble solids content of 20 Brix. The TPC reached 6.1 x 10^5 CFU/mL, indicating substantial microbial activity during fermentation. The combination of low pH, high acidity, and significant microbial load suggest that fermentation proceeded actively and successfully produced a beverage with potential probiotic properties. In conclusion, the fermented pineapple peel beverage exhibits favorable chemical and microbiological characteristics, supporting its potential development as a locally sourced functional food product.

Geothermal exploration in the Tarutung region utilizes geophysical methods, particularly geoelectric and geomagnetic methods, to obtain a picture of the subsurface structure that supports the identification of geothermal systems. The geoelectric method is used to measure the resistivity of subsurface rocks, which helps map reservoir layers, fractures, and cap rocks important in geothermal systems. Meanwhile, the geomagnetic method utilizes measurements of magnetic field variations at the surface to detect changes in the magnetic properties of rocks due to geothermal activity, thereby identifying magnetic anomaly zones that indicate the presence of geothermal sources. The geothermal system in Tarutung is influenced by a complex interaction between tectonic and volcanic activity, where active fault structures and fractures as well as volcanic activity influence geothermal fluid migration and reservoir characteristics. The application of these two geophysical methods provides accurate and efficient data for geothermal exploration, which plays a crucial role in the development of renewable energy in areas with strong tectonic and volcanic dynamics such as the Tarutung area.

Abstract
ABSTRACT
The tourism sector contributes significantly to regional and national economic growth. Geoparks are areas of high geological, biological, and cultural value, managed for conservation, education, and sustainable development. One such geopark in Indonesia is the Lake Toba Caldera, whose potential can be maximized through the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This program aims to maintain the sustainability of the geopark ecotourism area by preserving biodiversity, geology, and culture. However, the implementation of the SDGs in the Lake Toba Caldera Geopark area has not been optimal. The main challenges include the limited knowledge of the community and local government regarding the SDGs, the lack of financial support from the local government, and low public awareness in protecting the environment. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of the SDGs program that has been running, develop strategies for the implementation of programs that have not been achieved, and utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for area promotion. The research methods used include field surveys, visual observations, interviews with stakeholders (local government), and secondary data analysis using GIS. The analysis produced an infographic map that facilitates understanding of the region^s potential. With this approach, GIS-based promotion is expected to increase public awareness of the importance of regional sustainability. The results of this research are targeted to produce several outputs, such as a final report, publication in international proceedings, accredited national journals, and copyright of research products. The proposed Technology Readiness Level (TKT) is TKT 3, which includes testing a GIS system prototype for spatial analysis. This research not only provides theoretical contributions but also practical implementation to support the sustainable management of the Lake Toba Caldera Geopark area.

Abstract
The use of LMS is currently the main key in supporting the learning process other than in the classroom, therefore it is necessary to carry out a comprehensive evaluation to see the extent of satisfaction and usefulness of the use of the LMS. This study evaluates the success of using LMS using the ISSM model developed by Delone and Mclean. The research method used in this research is quantitative by involving all 213 students of the Accounting Department, consisting of two study programs, namely accounting education and accounting science ranging from grade 2022 to 2024 at the Faculty of Economics, Medan State University. The data collection technique uses a questionnaire as the main instrument and the data is analyzed using the PLS (Partial Least Square) method for Quantitative data with SmartPLS. The analysis includes the PLS Algorithm test, Bootstrapping, and Hypothesis testing with p-value and t-stat. This study tested seven hypotheses- the relationship of five main construct variables: information content quality, instructor quality, learner self-regulation, perceived usefulness, and satisfaction with the entire use of the LMS. After the SEM-PLS test, it was found that six hypotheses had a positive and significant effect. (1) instructor quality affects perceived usefulness with a value of 0.317- (2) Instructor Quality affects satisfaction with a value of 0.234- (3) Information content quality affects perceived usefulness with a value of 0.450- (4) Information content quality affects satisfaction with a value of 0.345- (5) perceived usefulness affects satisfaction with a value of 0.191- (6) learner self-regulation affects satisfaction with the use of LMS with a value of 0.154- and the indirect relationship in the 7th hypothesis (7) learner self-regulation affect LMS satisfaction through perceived usefulness with a value of -0.061, means that has negative effect. All hypotheses with p-values are below 0.05, which means all variables have a significant effect. The t-statistics of all variables are above the value of 1.96, which is an average of 3.701.
