Abstract

Competence is a key indicator for vocational education graduates in accordance with stakeholder standards. Unfortunately, vocational education graduates generally fail to meet these standards due to weak laboratory practicums. This is a chronic problem that requires immediate solutions. This research aims to develop a virtual laboratory model to support basic vocational education practicums, both through virtual lab applications and practicum content in the form of virtual practicum modules. This research is considered crucial to address the chronic problem of low competency, particularly in basic engineering and technical competencies. The research employed a development method. The feasibility of the virtual laboratory was tested using a feasibility test instrument based on expert justification, while the model^s acceptability and effectiveness were assessed using field tests through quasi-experiments. This research was conducted at Universitas Negeri Medan. The research outputs include (1) a virtual laboratory LMS model, (2) feasibility test result documents, (3) a manual and product specifications, (4) a video tutorial for the Virtual Lab application, (5) a virtual practicum module, (6) intellectual property in the form of copyright, and (7) scientific publications. The research findings are useful as a practical solution for vocational schools with limited basic laboratory facilities as a solution to improve graduate competency according to stakeholder standards.
