Abstract

Ambatig is a mobile application developed to facilitate the generation of two-dimensional decorative motifs based on mathematical symmetry principles, particularly frieze and crystallographic patterns. The application integrates computational geometry with artistic creativity through an intuitive interface designed for both novice and experienced users. To evaluate the user experience, a formal assessment was conducted using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ), which measures six key dimensions: attractiveness, perspicuity, efficiency, dependability, stimulation, and novelty. The evaluation involved 50 traditional batik artisans in the city of Medan, Indonesia, to assess the applicability of the application within a real-world cultural and creative context. Results indicate that Ambatig was positively received, with high scores in stimulation and novelty, reflecting the application^s potential to inspire creativity. Furthermore, positive ratings in perspicuity and efficiency suggest that the interface is accessible and easy to use, even for users with limited digital experience. These findings demonstrate that Ambatig can serve as an effective tool for supporting batik design innovation while bridging traditional craftsmanship with modern generative technologies.
