Universitas Negeri Jakarta

Abstract

This study aims to identify the developing competencies from multicultural values and local wisdom existing in Indonesian society in Islamic Religion Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam - PAI). Based on previous research in two state universities, there are guidance and empowerment for an inclusive attitude towards various cultural, religious, ethnic, and linguistic diversity and political organizations. During this time, the source of Islamic Religious Education learning tends to be conceptualist, so that it requires contextual teaching material and takes place in people^s lives, such as local culture. Besides, the realm of assessment of learning outcomes is only in the cognitive domain, whereas learning neglects the affective domain. This study is qualitative research and development (Research and Development), by collecting data through interviews, questionnaires, observation sheets, study documentation, and focus group discussions. The research subjects were lecturers, and students participating in Islamic Religious Education learning. The study results found two main components, the competence of Islamic Religious Education learning based on multicultural values and local wisdom and the development of indicators and instruments for evaluating scientific and character attitudes that support the evaluation of the development of these competencies.
And the study indicates the need to develop Islamic learning competencies in tertiary institutions by incorporating multicultural values and using the wealth of traditions and local cultures that live and align with Islamic values and teachings. This study is also useful for the preservation of the archipelago culture.

Abstract

This paper describes the electronic learning design for English courses using Moodle in the Accountancy Department of the State Polytechnic of Semarang, Indonesia. The method used is a descriptive explorative on the analysis and design factors that are considered in this design. The analysis used is needs analysis, while the design factors are three, namely learning objectives, delivery strategy and evaluation strategy. Needs analysis is visible in the design which divided into nineteen-week meetings. Meanwhile, the three design factors can be seen from the selection of activities and resources. Some of the existing activities include attendance design using two menu options, namely lesson or choice, discussing using the forum or chat menu, assigning assignments using the assignment and quizzes menu and taking the learning feedback using the feedback menu. Some of the existing resources include: labelling the types of activities, providing teaching materials using the file, folder and book menu. When using the file menu, there are many types of teaching materials in the form of audio and video that have been shared with this menu, i.e. pdf, ppt, doc, mp3 and mp4. As a recommendation for next semester, to meet the expected needs, several synchronous activities need to be added, e.g. conducting a twenty minutes virtual meeting once a month and conduct live interactive quizzes.

This study is based on a needs analysis for Indonesian language teachers regarding the assessment of writing opinion articles by grade XII students so that the researcher plans an assessment instrument design. In this design, opinion articles as material to be judged are taken from magazines and the role of the human rater is carried out by the researcher. This assessment design is considered important to be initiated considering that so far technology has become an absolute necessity in the teaching and learning system. The benefits of this system when associated with learning Indonesian language are in terms of efficiency and objectivity in teacher assessments of grade XII in accordance with the Basic Competencies in the 2013 Curriculum to be able to produce opinion articles. This research is also relevant to conditions today, when the Covid-19 virus outbreak occurred, which then had an impact on conditions that ^forced^ teachers and students to carry out the teaching and learning process online.

Doctoral Student at the Language Education, Graduate Program, Universitas Negeri Jakarta

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of metacognition strategy and prior knowledge on ability to develop writing skills assessment instruments for students in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, Faculty of Language and Arts, Universitas Negeri Jakarta. This research is an experimental research. Based on data analysis, the metacognition strategy can affect the ability to develop writing skills assessment instruments if it is associated with high and low prior knowledge. The ability to develop writing skills assessment instruments for students who have a high prior knowledge level is different from the ability to develop writing skills assessment instruments for students with low prior knowledge levels. Thus, students who had high prior knowledge after being treated with metacognition strategies had a significant difference in developing writing skills assessment instruments when compared to students who had low levels of knowledge. The average score for the group of students who had a high level of prior knowledge was 88.3 and students who had a low level of knowledge was 77.3.

This research was conducted from March 2018 to February 2020 in English Language Education Study Program, Khairun University, Indonesia which involved 60 students. This research applied research and development method. The results showed that the collaborative learning process could improve students skills in writing academic texts. The results of the effectiveness test (Mann-Whitney test) show that the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.00 <0.05, where indicates that there is a significant difference between collaborative learning models compared to conventional learning models and accepting the alternative hypothesis that collaborative learning models improve students ability to write academic texts (argumentative essay) in English.
