Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang, Magelang, Indonesia, 56172
Abstract
The deadline of 2023 has almost passed for the obligation to conduct a spin-off for sharia business units in Indonesia to become a fully-fledged Islamic bank. However, a number of empirical findings highlight the urgency of evaluating this policy. Furthermore, many sharia business units are unable to meet the minimal standards. The paper aims to review prior studies on how spin-off decisions affect the financial performance of spin-off Islamic banks in Indonesia. Information was gathered from the Google Scholar and Mendeley databases using a literature review methodology. This study reveals that 18 publications have tracked 10 Islamic spin-off banks and 18 financial performance indicators. Following the spin-off, six Islamic banks, including BNI Syariah, BRI Syariah, BJB Syariah, Bank KB Bukopin Syariah, BTPN Syariah, Bank Aceh Syariah, BCA Syariah, Bank Syariah Mandiri, and Panin Dubai Syariah Bank, experienced an improvement in their financial performance. Assets, third party funds, financing, market share, CAR, NPF, ROA, z-score, and Maqasid Sharia Index were the main performance indicators that experienced a significant improvement after the spin-off.

The effects of carbon taxes on firms^ carbon emission: Simulation model in Indonesia Andewi Rokhmawati
Universitas Riau
Abstract
This research examines the effect of taxes on carbon on firms^ carbon emissions. To examine the effect, this research used a manufacturing firm-level dataset from 2012-2019. The data were secondary data collected by Indonesian Statistics. The research did not include 2020 and 2021 because Indonesian Statistics did not survey those years because of the Covid 19 pandemic. It did not include the data in 2016 either due to the unavailability of data. The research data includes the types and numbers of energy consumed by the firms to calculate the firms^ carbon emission, investment, and value-added. By using the common effect approach, the study result indicates that increasing the marginal cost of carbon taxes increased firms^ carbon emissions. Thus, this result did not provide empirical evidence that the IDR 30.00 tariff of a carbon tax is an effective carbon pricing policy. This might be because the carbon tax tariff of IDR 30.00 per kilogram of CO2e is still low, so the tariff did not effectively push firms to consume fossil fuels more efficiently and adopt clean technology.

Application of the Principal Component Value at Risk Model in Measuring Interest Rate Risk in the Non-Bank Financial Industry in Indonesia. Siti Saadah(a), Yohanes Berchman Suhartoko(b), Stanislaus S. Uyanto(c)
a,b,c) Faculty of Economics and Business, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia
Abstract
The non-bank financial industry portfolio is dominated by fixed income instruments so that their value is exposed to interest rate movements. Various interest rates tend to move simultaneously making this risk difficult to measure, so there are still few studies on this. In 2017 Indonesia received an upgrade to investment grade. This study also examines the impact of investment grade on interest rate risk. This study is to measure market risk originating from interest rate movements (interest rate risk). Non-bank financial service institutions with portfolios dominated by fixed income instruments will be highly exposed to interest rate movements. Principal Component Value at Risk (VaR) method is used on weekly yield government bonds data from the Bloomberg database with tenors of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30 years with R language. This study found that the most important yield movement observed is the parallel shift pattern which produces the highest delta exposure. The portfolio faces greater interest rate risk exposure in the period before investment grade. Kupiec backtesting provides statistical evidence of the validity of the VaR model.

Abstract
So far, the potential for sweet potato in Papua Province has only provided traditional benefits as the second staple food after rice/sago and has not provided benefits for improving the economy of the people of Papua. To obtain optimal benefits, a pilot model is needed for the development of the sweet potato processing industrial cluster so that all parties interested in the development of this commodity can directly see the development model being applied.
The aim is to describe and analyze sweet potato as a superior product in industrial clusters through the application of a development model and analyze the potential economic diversification of sweet potato and the selling value of the community in Papua Province.
Disclosure of facts in the field in a descriptive way using research instruments, observations, and interviews. Facts on the ground are then analyzed and given meaning.
The sweet potato commodity has not been able to make a significant contribution to the agricultural sector, the food crop sub-sector, and the sweet potato commodity, Papua Province. Industrial clusters for superior sweet potato products that can be developed in Papua Province are small-scale, farmer-level based sweet potato industry clusters supported by farmer groups and customary institutions- medium-scale sweet potato industrial clusters, producing flour ingredients by third parties or private/agencies to be sold outside the region- the two clusters that have been formed need the support of policymakers, banks and the assistance of researchers and extension workers to support the process from cultivation, post-harvest to processing into sweet potato flour.
To increase sweet potato production so that it becomes a leading sector, land extensification is needed. It is also necessary to increase public interest in planting sweet potatoes. Improve prices so that farmers do not experience losses. The Department of Trade and Agriculture monitors market prices, especially for sweet potato.

4. Introduction
: < According to current statistical records, Indonesia^s population is 270.2 million people, of which 70.72% of the total population is of productive age. With this large number, of course, not all of them can be absorbed into the world of work. This is because the number of jobs in Indonesia is not sufficient to absorb productive age workers. Due to the large number of people of productive age who are unemployed, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have emerged which are one of the solutions to overcome the large number of people who have not found work in their productive age. Determinants of Profit Efficiency Among Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia Muhamad Wahid Ibrahim, Ravindra Ardiana Darmadi
Program Studi Manajemen, Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis, Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang, Magelang, Indonesia
Abstract
SMEs create employment and support economic growth (ILO, 2019). Therefore, SMEs should be efficient. There is extensive research on SMEs efficiency, whereas it still focuses on cost efficiency, which is only a partial assessment compared to a more comprehensive profit efficiency measurement (Perez-Gomez, et .al, 2018). The study aims to understand the current condition of the efficiency level of SMEs and identify the factors that affect profit efficiency. The SFA method is used to estimate profit efficiency. A panel data regression using E-Views analyzed the determinant of profit efficiency. The data is from 106 Indonesian companies. The average profit efficiency of Indonesian SMEs was 15.65%. The size and age of the company have a negative effect on profit efficiency. Conversely, labor productivity, export activity, and digitalization have a positive effect. However, government assistance did not affect profit efficiency since it was proven statistically insignificant. Policymakers should encourage SMEs to adopt digital-based operations to compete in the international market. SMEs managers are advised to facilitate various capacity-building activities to improve workforce ability to enhance productivity. Finally, future studies should work on more disaggregated company data over time and take samples from other Asian countries.
