Abstract

ABSTRACT

Batik cloth is a product of artistic work which is the result of artistic drawings on cloth which has later become a fairly large industry in Indonesia. The journey of the batik industry as a cultural heritage of our ancestors has developed very rapidly. It has been proven that there are many batik entrepreneurs, especially on the island of Java, who have become people^s livelihoods and improved the welfare of the local economy. Apart from Java, currently batik is also developing widely, one of which is on the island of Sumatra, namely the city of Medan. One of the batik cloth businesses in the city of Medan is Ardhina Batik. One of the challenges and problems faced is the demand from consumers regarding various batik cloth motifs. So far, batik cloth motifs produced at Ardhina Batik still rely on ornaments from ethnicities in the Medan and surrounding areas of Toba, Karo, Mandailing, Melayu, Nias and Pak Pak Dairi ethnicities. With these problems, batik entrepreneurs must take the initiative and continue to innovate who are creative in producing batik cloth, namely by creating new motifs that are unique, creative, bold, attractive and high quality so that they can be competitive and meet customer expectations. The motifs that will be made are batik motifs that highlight cultural icons, characteristics and uniqueness that exist in the city of Medan, such as machine rickshaws, rowing rickshaws, Maimun palace, Tjong Afi^s house, Tirtanadi tower and others. The next step after creating a new batik motif is branding the product by creating a promotional design. The research method used is R & D. Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif

Abstract

The aim of this study was to create a practical water filter to improve the quality of Muara Angke well water. There are three main steps in this research, namely initial testing of Muara Angke residents^ well water, making water filters, and testing filtered well water. There are three types of tests carried out, namely resistivity, pH, and turbidity. The water filter uses sedimentation techniques using natural materials. The composition of the materials from top to bottom is gravel (30 cm), silica sand (40 cm), manganese zeolite (40 cm), and activated carbon (40 cm). Well water, whether filtered or not, still contains more dissolved ions which causes its resistivity to be lower than bottled water. The filtration process using silica sand, manganese sand, and activated carbon does not directly cause a significant decrease in pH. However, if the source water has certain chemical characteristics or there are reactions that result in increased acidity (such as from CO&#8322- or oxidation reactions), the pH of the water may decrease slightly. The filtration media used helps reduce water turbidity, but has not reached the desired standard.

Abstract

Millions of people depend on regular blood sugar checks to manage diabetes. However, invasive procedures including finger pricking are inconvenient and impair patient compliance. This has prompted extensive study into non-invasive blood sugar monitoring methods. This paper proposes a prototype for a non-invasive blood sugar monitoring device called SIMANIS. It attempts to give a more convenient solution by measuring sugar levels using a photodiode rather than finger pricking. The device detects sugar molecules in the blood by emitting red LED light from a finger-attached sensor. Based on the working principle of a photodiode, the sensor absorbs the light reflected from the patient^s finger. Then it converts an analog electric signal into a digital representation by the ADC on the Arduino. A linear regression equation converts the ADC value into a blood sugar level value. The development of SIMANIS represents a promising step towards more comfortable blood sugar monitoring. The tests show that the maximum error rate is 2.49%. The analysis data revealed an accuracy rate of approximately 92.17% in the measurements. These values suggest that while the measurement system is fairly accurate (with an accuracy rate of over 90%), there are instances where the errors can be as high as 2.49%. These performance metrics are important for evaluating how reliable and precise the SIMANIS is, particularly in fields like medical diagnostics, where small errors can have significant consequences. Overall, SIMANIS has the potential to revolutionize sugar level monitoring by providing a more user-friendly, precise, and health-focused method for managing diabetes.

Abstract

Technological advances have offered many conveniences in various areas of life. Food packaging is also increasingly innovative to meet the dynamic needs of human life. Packaging innovation also extends to practical aspects of use, one of which is the need for self-heating food packaging. Therefore, this research focuses on making heaters for self-heating packaging that work based on non-toxic exothermic reactions using materials commonly used in society. The heater is made using a mixture of CaO, NaOH and Mg with a composition of 1:1:0.5. The heat released reaches 70 oC if measured directly in chemicals. In Al-sachet packaging, the heat is measured at less than 50 oC due to heat transfer problems in aluminum. However, in paper bag packaging, the heat released in water can reach 60 oC for a duration of 15 minutes. The downside to using paper bags is the transfer of chemicals from the bag to the water and then to the food. Therefore, appropriate heating package design is essential to reduce potential hazards.

Politeknik Negeri Media Kreatif

Abstract

This study aims to compare the printability, optical, and mechanical properties of two types of coated papers: Magno Satin (MS) and Art Carton (AC). The analysis was conducted by evaluating physical, optical, and mechanical characteristics, including grammage, thickness, bulk, brightness, opacity, tensile properties, tearing strength, and printability using offset ink. Printability tests involved measuring optical density, CIE L*a*b* values, hue error, and grayness, with varying ink film thicknesses from 0.8 to 9.6 microns. The results indicate that MS provides higher brightness and optical density, making it ideal for vibrant, high-quality printing. MS also exhibits higher stiffness and tensile strength, making it suitable for applications requiring rigidity and stability, such as brochures and promotional materials. In contrast, AC has greater tear strength, tensile energy absorption, and elongation, which make it advantageous for packaging applications due to its robustness and flexibility. The optimal ink film thickness for both papers was determined to be around 8.0 microns, beyond which the benefits in terms of optical density become minimal, and over-inking issues such as increased hue error and grayness may arise, affecting print quality. These findings highlight that while MS excels in providing superior color vibrancy and detail, AC is better suited for applications requiring durability and high tear resistance. Thus, selecting the appropriate paper type based on the specific requirements of the printed product is crucial for optimizing both print quality and material efficiency.

Abstract

This research establishes Malaysia^s systematic module of the al-Quran make-ready printing process. The problem addressed in this study arises from the existing limitations and deficiencies of the printing process at the production factories in Malaysia. More specific instructions regarding the proper printing process workflow are needed, especially in the make-ready process. Some manufacturers ignore the arguments supporting the miraculous nature of this Islamic holy book even though Allah guarantees the preservation of it in the make-ready printing process. Thus, this study clarifies the efficacy of a systematic module for encouraging improvements to the norms of al-Quran^s make-ready printing process to establish a standard in organisation and systematisation. Additionally, the investigation suggests a meticulously structured framework that could serve as a benchmark for enhancing the al-Quran make-ready printing process in Malaysia.
