Abstract
The growing use of digital media, particularly mobile applications, in healthcare systems is steadily increasing. Numerous studies have explored the application of mobile applications in the dentistry field. This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of trends in mobile applications for dental and oral health. Employing a systematic search strategy within the Scopus database, a collection of 161 relevant articles was identified through the targeted use of keywords and synonyms. These articles were subsequently exported in CSV format for further analysis. To gain a comprehensive understanding of the research landscape, VOS viewer 1.6.18 was utilized to visualize and analyze the data. A growth in the number of publications in this topic has been observed since 2011, indicating research interest and active scholarly engagement. This study identified the countries where research activities on mobile applications in dental and oral health are most actively conducted and analyzed international research collaboration to understand global research trends. Additionally, the most prolific authors in this field were identified and the collaboration among them was examined. Citation analysis was conducted to determine influential researchers and papers, thereby confirming their theoretical contributions. Furthermore, the most frequently published journals were identified to observe publications trends. The main keywords and topics used in the papers were analyzed to examine how different research themes intersect, allowing the identification of current trends and the prediction of future research directions. This bibliometric analysis provides a valuable overview of mobile application research in dental and oral health, identifying areas for future development. Continued research and collaboration are crucial for the successful integration of mobile applications into standard dental and oral health practices, ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare providers
