The Role of Microfinance in Addressing Intimate Partner Violence: The Impact of Financial Independence, Access, and Education

Universitas Islam Nahdlatul Ulama Jepara
Chang^an University

Abstract

Women are the primary microfinance client while microfinance serves as a vital mechanism for enhancing women^s financial independence and potentially reducing intimate partner violence (IPV). This study examines the influence of financial independence, financial access, education, and income on the prevalence of IPV, encompassing physical, sexual, psychological, and economic violence. An online questionnaire was distributed to women aged over 18 who were married or previously married and had accessed microcredit from financial institutions. Out of the responses, 250 met the criteria for analysis. Binary logistic regression was employed to assess IPV as an outcome variable, defined by whether respondents had ever experienced violence in any of the four forms. The Wald test results reveal that education significantly impacts IPV prevalence, while financial access and independence do not. To address outlier data, a robust estimator was applied, confirming the significance of education as a determinant. These findings suggest that access to financial resources alone may be insufficient to alter power dynamics within intimate relationships. The study underscores the necessity of a multi-faceted approach to addressing IPV, integrating educational initiatives with financial empowerment strategies to create meaningful and sustainable change.

Abstract

The community service program aims to enhance welfare and environmental sustainability through the implementation of the Green Economy. This initiative involves two primary partners: the Taruna Tani Mapan (Tampan) Farmer Group in Sumanding Village, which operates in horticulture, plantation product production, and livestock- and LMDH Wana Bhakti of Sumanding Village, which manages agricultural, plantation, and livestock sectors. The program is carried out through several stages: socialization, appropriate technology training (TTG), technical guidance, program assistance, monitoring and evaluation, recommendations and follow-up, as well as program development and sustainability. The results of this program indicate significant benefits. In terms of production, the initiative has successfully empowered partners by diversifying their products, particularly in coffee production. This has led to a 10% increase in coffee yield and a 20% rise in sales, supported by improvements in branding, packaging, and omni-channel marketing strategies. From a social perspective, the farmer group has achieved legal entity status, enhancing its institutional legitimacy. Additionally, the second partner has strengthened its production capabilities through waste utilization from agriculture, plantations, and livestock, transforming them into solid and liquid fertilizers. Moreover, there has been a notable improvement in knowledge among partners in areas such as branding, packaging, digital marketing, financial management, and business planning. These outcomes demonstrate the program^s positive impact on both economic and social aspects, contributing to the sustainability of the Green Economy initiative in the region.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has significantly transformed the Islamic banking industry, presenting both opportunities and challenges. This study analyzes the transformation of consumer behavior towards Islamic banking in the digital era, focusing on Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) customers in Jepara. It examines key factors influencing digital banking adoption, including ease of use, security, Sharia compliance, trust, and customer satisfaction. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 150 respondents through surveys and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS. Additionally, qualitative insights were obtained from in-depth interviews with BSI customers and banking officials. The findings reveal that trust (&#946- = 0.312, p < 0.001) and customer satisfaction (&#946- = 0.410, p < 0.001) are the strongest predictors of digital banking adoption. Furthermore, ease of use (&#946- = 0.320, p < 0.001), security (&#946- = 0.298, p < 0.001), and Sharia compliance (&#946- = 0.345, p < 0.001) significantly influence trust and satisfaction, which in turn drive behavioral intention. SEM analysis confirms that trust mediates the relationship between security, Sharia compliance, and customer satisfaction, emphasizing the importance of transparency, security, and religious compliance in digital banking services. The study highlights practical implications for Islamic banks to enhance digital adoption by improving security features, ensuring compliance with Sharia principles, and promoting financial literacy. The findings suggest that Islamic banks should prioritize trust-building strategies, such as robust security measures, user-friendly interfaces, and transparency in digital transactions. This research contributes to the existing knowledge on Islamic digital banking adoption, particularly in Indonesia, and underscores the need for regulatory frameworks and digital literacy programs to maximize the benefits of digital banking transformation.

Universitas Islam Nahdlatul Ulama Jepara

Abstract

The availability of highway infrastructure will provide optimal service so that the transportation process is faster, safer and more convenient to the destination [1]. Various problems that exist on the road, such as there are potholes that cause water to stagnate when it rains, bumpy roads, cracked roads that cause motorists to be less comfortable when crossing the road, also triggers traffic incidents [2]. A method is needed so that the level of damage can be determined and also the priority of road repairs that will be applied, providing guidelines for investigation/inspection of damage based on traffic density using data mining clustering methods. Traffic density or the amount of average daily traffic (LHR) is very influential on the level of road damage in addition to other factors [3]. The correlation between road improvement and traffic density is very significant so that it can be analyzed using clustering data mining method to facilitate the priority of road improvement in accordance with traffic density. Some of the problems that need to be studied are the characteristics of traffic density in Central Java Province, the development of road repair in Central Java Province, the development of clustering data mining methods in determining road priorities and the development of clustering data mining methods with traffic density in determining road repair priorities in Central Java province. This shows the usefulness of this analysis in education and society. In this analysis determined as many as 3 clusters. Cluster 0 is a road with high traffic density, Cluster 1 is a road with medium traffic density, and Cluster 2 is a road with low traffic density. The density level is also analyzed from the degree of saturation (DS), namely high priority road repair if the value of the degree of saturation (DS) > 1.0- medium priority road repair if the value of the degree of saturation (DS) 1.0>DS>0.75- low priority road repair if the value of the degree of saturation (DS) < 0.75.Keywords: LHR, Density, Clustering data mining
