Abstract

This study aims to develop a Bahasa Indonesia for Foreign Speakers (BIPA) dictionary based on local wisdom inspired by various traditional rituals in Central Java. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with cultural practitioners, and documentation of traditional rituals such as Grebeg, Sekaten, Nyadran, and other cultural ceremonies. The data were analyzed using content analysis techniques to identify and classify unique vocabulary used in the context of these rituals. The result is a vocabulary list, including meanings, cultural usage, and relevant equivalents in foreign languages. This dictionary is expected to serve as a learning resource for BIPA, introducing not only the Indonesian language but also the cultural values of Central Java, thus supporting more contextual and meaningful language learning for foreign learners.
