Abstract

The Android-based Augmented Reality (AR) application is designed as an interactive learning media for English at the elementary school level. This application includes educational features, such as alphabet recognition, basic vocabulary, numbers, body parts, objects, animals, fruits, and plants. Each image scanned by students will trigger virtual objects and pronunciation sounds in English, and is equipped with various interactive exercises, such as completing words, matching images with words, afternoon puzzles, and composing random sentences. Literature studies and interviews with teachers provide the theoretical basis and needs in designing the application. The test results show that this application is effective in increasing students^ motivation and understanding of English vocabulary. This application also shows great potential to be applied in a wider environment.
