Abstract
Flashcards based phonic method is developed to provide opportunities for children to build words. The steps are started by implementing simple three-letter words and gradually progress to more complex words. The phonic method is employed interactively to encourage children of early childhood to sound out each letter and blend them to form words with kinesthetic learning. The qualitative method is conducted to describe students^ achievement to build a solid foundation which in turn strengthened their English proficiency. The phenomenon classroom discourse emphasizes the importance of maintaining communication between teachers and students to contribute holistic physical, social and language development. Implementing phonic strategies provides students the effect of beneficial memory recall to identify vocabulary and to retrieve information through meaning. The result demonstrated that children as young learners pronounce correctly, and identify letters, sounds, and words as well appropriately.
