Abstract

The influence of globalization in the culinary domain has led to the increasing use of loanwords in the naming of food menus in Indonesia. This study aims to identify and classify loanwords used in Indonesian food menus based on their language of origin, and to analyze the forms of morphological adaptation and their meanings. Data were collected from various restaurant and cafe menus, as well as from online food delivery platforms. The results show that most loanwords originate from Japanese, Italian, English, and Chinese. The dominant adaptation processes are phonological, orthographic, and semantic. These findings reflect the dynamics of lexical borrowing and the influence of foreign cultures on the Indonesian language in the culinary context.
