Abstract

The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is increasingly attracting academic attention due to its significant impact on mental health, particularly in the context of social media use. This study aims to analyze global research trends and influential contributions related to the impact of FoMO (Fear of Missing Out) on mental health. This bibliometric study analyzed 120 publications, narrowed down to 50 articles on the impact of FoMO on mental health from 2018 to 2025, using Scopus data analyzed through Biblioshiny and VOSviewer. The results show that China is the most productive with 90 articles, followed by the United States with 39, Germany with 29, France with 15, and notably, no research has been conducted in Indonesia. The most frequently occurring keywords based on the defined terms are ^Fear of Missing Out,^ followed by ^Gender,^ ^Mental Health,^ and ^Psychology.^ This analysis provides strategic insights for students, guidance counselors, researchers, and policymakers regarding the significant impact of FoMO on mental health. For guidance counselors in schools, addressing FoMO should be a key focus to ensure students^ mental health remains intact, by designing and developing counseling techniques and therapies.
