Abstract
Teaching materials are learning resources or physical vehicles that contain instructional materials that can stimulate students to learn. Teaching materials in the learning process are an important element in the learning process, this is because teaching materials are the material to be delivered. The purpose of this research is to produce good teaching materials that can improve student competence. Teaching materials will determine whether or not the expected learning competency objectives are achieved. Teaching materials are one of the most important learning tools in the learning process for students. This research uses the development research method. This research activity was carried out at the Faculty of Sports Science, Medan State University, involving 90 students as samples and 3 experts in the field of swimming learning and 3 swimming lecturers. The results of this study produced a textbook with the following framework: . History of Swimming Sport. Introduction to Water, Freestyle Swimming, Chest Style Swimming, Backstroke Swimming, Butterfly Style Swimming, Start, Finish, and Reversal and Movement After Start and Reversal, as well as Anatomy and Physiology of Swimming Sports.
