Abstract

This article presents a cultural enrichment program aimed at enhancing the understanding and appreciation of Indonesian intangible cultural heritage among students of Hebei International Studies University, particularly through Reyog Ponorogo dance training. Reyog Ponorogo, a dynamic and complex dance form originating from Indonesia, serves as a medium to bridge the cultural gap and foster mutual respect between Indonesian and Chinese youth. The activity aims to introduce participants to the rich Indonesian culture, promote cross-cultural understanding, and highlight the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage. Through dance training in synergy with the BIPA program, the program seeks to equip students with in-depth knowledge of Reyog Ponorogo, as well as practical skills in performing it. The culmination of the activity is a public performance, which offers a platform for participants to showcase their learning outcomes and engage a wider audience in cultural exchange. This article underlines the importance of such cultural programs in building academic and cultural bridges between countries, thus contributing to a more inclusive and respectful global community. The intended outcomes are that students have the competence to recognize Indonesian culture and the skills to dance the traditional Indonesian art, Reyog Ponorogo. The training was conducted online and offline, and the results of this training were exhibited on the closing night of the offline community service activities at Hebei University. The activity plan was prepared within a period of 1 year consisting of the preparation, implementation, evaluation and reporting stages. The preparation stage includes packaging dance training materials that take the Jathil Dance as part of the Reyog Ponorogo Dance. Dance materials are provided in 2 forms, namely online and offline. An introduction to basic dance movements is given online and mastery is given online until the performance at Hebei University. This activity is documented along with dance materials in the form of a performance video.
