Abstract

Education is an essential need in human life, including in coastal areas that are vulnerable to tidal flooding. This study aims to analyze the adaptive strategies of Islamic educational institutions in coastal areas to ensure the sustainability of quality education. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, documentation studies, and literature reviews. The findings show that Islamic educational institutions in coastal areas implement three main strategies: preventive, incidental, and rehabilitative. Preventive strategies include elevating buildings and planting mangroves, incidental strategies are carried out during floods such as pumping water and relocating items, while rehabilitative strategies involve cleaning up and repairing infrastructure after floods. Although these efforts maintain the continuity of the educational process, the strategies applied are still short-term. Therefore, further collaboration between educational institutions, the community, and the government is needed to enhance adaptive capacity to climate change and natural disasters.
