Abstract

Despite growing interest in integrating local culture into curricula in regions like Jepara, adequate teaching materials are lacking. Combining Natural and Social Sciences with local culture aims to create holistic learning experiences, aligning with elementary students^ developmental levels and enhancing their understanding of local heritage. This study analyzes the need for developing integrated teaching materials for elementary schools and madrasah ibtidaiyah in Jepara Regency using an embedded mixed method approach, combining qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys. The study highlights the need to add local culture-based materials, aiding 38 public and private elementary school teachers. Current materials are insufficient, and integrating local culture enhances students^ understanding, identity, engagement, and critical thinking. The study recommends developing culturally-based materials to support teachers^ needs, facilitating holistic learning and enriching students^ educational experiences
