Antecedents of Employee Creativity in Entertainment Industry Employees

Abstract

Introduction: An industry facing competition certainly needs creative and innovative ideas in creating content or video services that they present to increase the interest of their viewers or consumers. All creative and innovative ideas are obtained from human resources from within the company, who are team members that carry out marketing through technological media or television, namely the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry is an organization that distributes, produces, or publishes products in the fields of film, television, music, publishing, radio, the internet, and advertising. According to Sengupta & Ganjoo (2021), The entertainment industry prioritizes creativity that follows technological innovation and consumer demand, which causes intense competition experienced by businesspeople operating in the entertainment industry. With this, many industries or companies are interested in understanding what companies can do to present creative and innovative ideas that are obtained from their employees in carrying out the work assigned, such as identifying important factors that encourage or hinder innovation and increasing Employee Creativity (Olsson et al., 2019).

Purpose: To identify and analyze factors that influence Employee Creativity in Entertainment Industry in Jakarta Indonesia.

Method: The sample were assembled from 261 employees from entertainment industry in Jakarta. The data collection used in this survey is non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method. The technique used to evaluate this review is an instrumental test such as validity, reliability, and hypotheses testing using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with AMOS software

Main Finding: Employees perceive that leaders have implemented Servant Leadership and Transformational Leadership, and employees also have high Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Employee Creativity. The results of hypothesis testing show a positive and significant influence between Servant Leadership and Transformational Leadership on Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Employee Creativity.

Implication: As a managerial implication, it is hoped that leaders in the entertainment industry can continue to support the creativity of their employees because this industry requires high creativity to survive.
