ARTICLE WRITING TRAINING FOR LECTURERS IN PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES IN MALANG AREA VIA MOOC

Abstract

The three main tasks of higher education require institutions and lecturers to carry out three main activities from educational institutions, namely education - learning, research and community service. As for what is considered the hardest, usually, research activities must provide outputs in the form of scientific articles published in indexed international journals and impact factors. Meanwhile, technological advances make interaction and communication happen anytime and anywhere, including fulfilling this university^s three main tasks. Massive Opened Online Course (MOOC) is the contribution of an excellent educational institution to the community, and at the same time, it can provide a place for the three institutional activities all at once on its platform. One of the activities being held at the Malang State University is article writing training for private university lecturers in Malang to produce articles published in indexed journals and impact factors. The training was carried out in a hybrid way, using the MOODLE-based mooc.um.ac.id platform. The training went well and resulted in interactive activities utilizing the features in the MOODLE LMS. It began by making a bottom-up research roadmap, reporting the results of existing research in the form of good articles, finding the right journal, and submitting it to it. After that, there is also assistance to serve reviewer requests to provide a way for articles to be better known. Activities like this provide MOOC functions for education and learning activities, research, and community service. MOOCs will become more and more critical in the future.
