Question & Answer to the Presentation

Question from Ms. Zaleha Rumadi

What is the mechanism of belatacept in the treatment of multiple sclerosis?

CD80 and CD86 may costimulate T cells through CD28, it is likely that
both must be blocked to effectively reduce T-cell activation . Belatacept
can inhibit CD80/CD86 with its inhibitory effect on T cell proliferation and
cytokine production.

Question from Ms. Dhea Nur Hikmah

Can cancer only be activated by the tyrosine kinase (ACK1) gene?

Cancer is not only activated by tyrosine kinase genes, but also by non-
tyrosine kinase genes, namely activated CDC42 kinase. Atypical non-
receptor tyrosine kinase ACK1 (activated CDC42 kinase 1) is widely
expressed and integrates and transmits signals from a variety of ligand-
activated receptor tyrosine kinases, including EGFR, HER2, and PDGFR1.

Question from Ms. Salsabila Salma Zahrah
2022.12.21 14:43:44

What are the functions of drugbank for the development of new drugs, especially for
pharmacogenomic studies?

DrugBank has been widely used to facilitate in silico drug target
discovery, drug design, drug docking or screening, drug metabolism
prediction, drug interaction prediction and general pharmaceutical
education. DrugBank was designed to serve as a comprehensive, fully
searchable in silico drug resource that linked sequence, structure and
mechanistic data about drug molecules (including biotech drugs) with
sequence, structure and mechanistic data about their drug targets

Question from Ms. Henik Setiyaningsih Setiyaningsih
2022.12.21 13:57:26

How to develop new drugs using drugbank?
Replies:

The drug research and development pipeline includes the following steps: (a) target
identification and validation- (b) hit to lead molecule generation- (c) lead molecule
optimization and characterization- (d) drug formulation and delivery- (e)
pharmacokinetics and drug disposition- (f) preclinical drug candidate identification-
and (g) bioanalytical testing and clinical trials.
