Abstract
The purchasing power of food in society influences dietary status. The study explores the relationship between the family^s socioeconomic and the adequacy of protein intake of school children. A survey of children^s food intake was conducted and involved 113 school children aged 8-12 years with their parents. The family^s socioeconomic data were obtained based on the socioeconomic questionnaire, and the child^s protein intake data were obtained based on a 7-days food diary. The types of food consumed were converted in grams and analyzed using the nutrisurvey program and then compared with the recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for Indonesian children aged 7-12 years. The results showed there was a relationship between the education level of the mother and the adequacy of protein intake of the children (p=0.014, RR=1.222).
