Abstract
an Abstract is Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease in Indonesia recorded around 7.30% and West Java Province ranks 12th with osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is an active disease of articular cartilage degeneration associated with symptoms such as joint pain, stiffness, and limited movement. Osteoarthritis treatment such as physical exercise or physiotherapy. This exercise is given is strengthening muscles, expanding the scope of joint motion one of which is stretching exercise. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of stretching exercise to decrease the scale of joint pain in osteoarthritis patients in the Cisarua Public Health Center in Sumedang. pre-experimental research design with one group pre- post intervention plan conducted with 37 respondent using total sampling technique. Data collection using questionnaire and observation sheets. Data analyzed with Rank Spearman test with signification rate α- 0.05. Results showed significant ρ- = 0,001 < α- (0.05), means that stretching exercise reduced joint pain scale in osteoarthritis patients in the working area of Cisarua public health center Sumedang regency. From this research is expected to provide and improve information and education about stretching exercise techniques to minimize the risk posed by osteoarthritis disease.
