Abstract
A smart home is a residence that connects a communication network with electrical equipment that can be controlled remotely. Houses in the age of advanced technology look less practical and effective in residential conditions. Ignorance of electricity such as residential lighting or other devices that are forgotten to be turned off when residents leave the house makes electricity consumption wasteful. Smart homes provide solutions that can be applied to these obstacles. In fact, smart homes can provide security and comfort in terms of room conditioning, such as neglecting electrical equipment. The criteria for an optimal smart home is that it must be reachable or remotely controlled. Android mobile technology and Google applications supported by voice command assistants can make it easier for users to control electrical equipment remotely. In this study, a smart home system will be created and demonstrated that can be controlled by voice using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module for connection to the internet, NodeMCU ESP8266 as a microcontroller and also using the Google Assistant platform for voice recognition and Thingspeak as an IoT server. As a machine-to-machine (M2M) bridge between Google Assistant and Thingspeak, the IFTTT (if this than that) logical server is used.
