Abstract

The acceleration of the flow of information technology in the era of globalization requires all areas of life to formulate a vision, mission, goals, and strategies to suit today^s life and not to be out of date. The development of a variety of instructional media is in line with the rapid technological advances. The dynamic of today^s technology has achieved remarkable acceleration. In the digital era, teachers are required to plan and create learning in accordance with the needs of students as the native generation. Virtual Reality technology-based media is a form of Multimedia Learning process that can be viewed as the acquisition of information or as the construction of knowledge of students. The purpose of this study is to how the media characteristics and effectiveness of the Virtual Tour history museum are used as an innovative form of learning social studies in elementary school. The design of this study uses ex post facto correlation, which is a systematic empirical investigation in which the researcher does not control the variables and basically, they cannot be manipulated. The conclusion about the relationship between these variables is made based on the differences that accompany the independent variable and the dependent variable, without direct intervention. The study was conducted in three schools in the fifth-grade elementary school students in West Jakarta. More pervasive understanding of this occurs because Virtual Reality provides the user experience as a first-person or the circumstances in which the user as if it were in its natural environment, thereby creating the perception of the first. This condition is the strength of Virtual Reality as a media learning because users will have a complete experience. The learning process should be oriented in all aspects of the individual to develop all areas of development such as physical, emotional, social, and cognitive.
