Abstract
Forgery of academic certificates is a common problem, especially in the academic field, due to its difficulty when verifying the authentication. Blockchain technology can be applied to replace diplomas, records, certificates, transcripts, and other documents because verification of digital certificates provides more security from impersonation. Many universities are starting to utilize Blockchain for academic credentials. Therefore, this study discusses further the elements of academic certificates using Blockchain. This study used a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach on articles published within the range of 2017-2021. The article search on the theme ^Application of Blockchain in Higher Education^ have obtained 1190 articles from 5 scientific databases, where the articles were sorted out based on the title into 57 articles. The articles were then sorted out again based on the abstract into 25 articles. In addition, the data indicates that the application of Blockchain technology in the academic field is a relatively new field of research. The results also showed that most of the authors are from the field of Computer Science (66%), and the other authors are from Management, Information System, Mathematics, and Science. On the other hand, results of the elements research show that 51% of articles that apply Blockchain technology stated that Blockchain in academic certificates do improves and guarantees data security from impersonation
