Abstract
This paper studies at investigating the character values in pictures of the prescribed English textbook entitle ^When English Rings A Bell^ grade VII. The researcher used multimodality analysis method to analyze visual data in depth in terms of representational aspects, interactive aspects, and compositional aspects. The result of the study revealed that pictures in prescribed textbook view five characters: religiosity, nationalism, gotong-royong, independence, and integrity. The dominant character values are gotong-royong, independence, and integrity. Thus result lead to implication that teachers and students should aware of those character values which are represented in the pictures of mandatory English textbook. Then, they should apply those character values in their daily lives.
