Abstract

YouTube is undeniably one of the most used platforms today. YouTube also has a very big influence on developments in the world of education, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic. The research concerned the powerful platform of YouTube in English language teaching (ETL). The research was conducted using a qualitative method by involving five Indonesian learners in the third semester. The participants received the same treatments through pre-test and self-reflection, feedback, and semi-structured interviews. The instruments were used to analyze the learners^ non-fluency. The analysis showed that the learners^ speaking performance was improved after using YouTube as the powerful platform session. The results of the test and self-reflection showed some significant improvement in their speaking. The finding showed some positive effects of YouTube as a powerful platform for EFL learners^ speaking performance. In interviews, the learners showed positive experiences and attitudes towards YouTube since it served them a comfortable, practical, structured, and powerful platform to recognize their speaking behavior, needs, weaknesses, and strength. Furthermore, it also helped them to get objective feedbacks with less anxiety.
