Abstract
The rapid shift from brick-and-mortar type of classes into online learning requires a careful selection of instructional design. Any selection failure hampers in achieving the goals of teaching and learning. This study investigates instructional design practices of online English as a foreign language (EFL) courses at one of the state universities in Indonesia amid the covid 19 pandemic. Using a qualitative study, this study involves three English lecturers teaching English courses online. The researchers used semi-structured interviews, documentation, and observations of online classes for data collection. The result of the study showed that the teachers applied steps of instructional design for online courses. Some recommendations towards future studies in the field are also stated along with the limitations of the study.
