The Role of Technological Literacy on Teachers Self-Efficacy in Education 4.0

Abstract

Education 4.0 is here as an effort to face the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0. In education 4.0 there are three important literacys, namely data literacy, human literacy and technological literacy. Technological literacy is the main literacy that needs to be strengthened for teachers. Technological literacy is the ability to use technology in the teaching and learning process. In addition, strengthening the technological aspect is considered very relevant to the teaching process in pandemic context because there is a change from face to face to online learning. This study aimed to examine the role of technological literacy on teachers self-efficacy in education 4.0. This study used quantitative research study and convenience sampling technique. It used technology literacy tool and teacher^s self-efficacy tool to retrieve data from participants. The technology literacy measurement tool was developed by Misirli and Akbulut in 2013 and consists of 4 dimensions, namely proficiency, creativity, digital citizenship and participation and innovativeness. The self-efficacy measurement tool for teachers consists of 24 items developed by Skaalvik and Skaalvik in 2007 which are based on Bandura^s self-efficacy theory. The data collection was carried out by online which distributed to 72 participants consists of 13 male teachers and 59 female teachers with characteristics of being teachers from schools in Tangerang and their age between 22 until 58 years old. For processed the data, this study used simple linear regression that resulted t value > t table (2.826 > 1.994) and a sig value of 0.006 smaller than 0.05 so it can be concluded that technology literacy has a significant effect towards teacher^s self-efficacy during teaching process. Based on the results of this study, it is important to equip teachers with technological literacy because it plays a role in increasing teacher efficacy.
