VIRTUAL TOURISM DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC BASED ON INTERNATIONAL LAW

Abstract

Recently, nations are struggling to mitigate the impact of the unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak on their economy. Many countries have imposed traveling restrictions to reduce people^s movement in order to avoid infection transmission. Traveling restrictions have jeopardized the tourism industry around the globe. If the situation persists, it will become challenging for the nations to open tourism. For this reason, the digitalization of tourism is a viable solution for this situation. This research is entitled ^Virtual Tourism During Covid-19 Pandemic Based on International Law^, by using normative legal research methods through a statutory approach and conceptual framework. The research questions are, (1) How to protect virtual tourism intellectual property rights during the covid-19 pandemic? (2) How to protect the personal data of tourists who use virtual tourism services during the covid-19 pandemic? then it can be concluded from the formulation of the first question is the protection of intellectual property rights in virtual tourism is regulated in the TRIPS (The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights) Agreement, namely copyrights and patents. Then, the conclusion of the second questions is protection of personal data for tourists who use virtual tourism services is regulated in the GDPR (The General Data Protection Regulation).
