Abstract
Morphology is a branch of linguistics regarding the form and formation of words. Morphological processes in forming words require components or elements of word formation, namely zero derivation, affixation, reduplication, abreviation, composition and back-derivation. Abreviation is a morphological process that converts a lexeme or a combination of leksem to short. The focus of the problems in this study include the process of contraction abreviation on narrative discourse. This research generally aims to describe the process of abreviation in the narrative discourse. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The data source used in this research is the downloaded video on the news narrative discourse and the research data analyzed in this study are form words containing abreviations of contraction. The data collection steps are as follows: (1) observation, (2) dokumentasi. The results of the research found in the contraction abreviation, namely the process of conserving the first term of each component- conservation of the first letter of each component- conserving the first two letters of each component- conservation of the first three letters of each component- the binding of the first two letters of the first component and the first three letters of the second component and the binding of various letters and syllables that are difficult to formulate.
