Abstract

A good and smart democratic society has to consider its citizens and the environment. However, an attitude of individualism comes to the fore since the feeling of being capable in dealing with everything of each individual becomes serious behavior. This behavior leads to participation deviation and reduction. Accordingly, the development of civic disposition and civic participation among the young generation has to be considered to create a good society. Volunteering experience in various activities is believed in giving a positive impact on establishing the characters and participation of young citizens. In regards to this issue, the study aims to determine the role and relationship of Volunteering Experience in strengthening civic disposition and civic participation. A case study under qualitative research was conducted to collect the necessary data of 10 participants. The result of the study shows that volunteering experience gives a positive impact towards civic disposition in which the desire of being helpful and of providing benefits and participation is increased. This situation leads to better solidarity, interaction, and communication. The involvement of the individual in the volunteering experience seems to establish a good social relationship, upgraded knowledge, and new skills. This is both a positive psychological and social influence (Wilson, 2000)
