Strategy for the Formation of Muslim Scholars through Islamic Religious Education (IRE) courses

Abstract

Ideally, Islamic Religious Education (IRE) courses at the university are not only made students able to understand religion well- but also made them could integrate it with the necessary knowledge they have. To be religious is not enough to understand the text of the Quran and hadith, but its implementation in social life must also support it. The purpose of this research is to understand the strategy of forming students as Muslim scholars, which can integrate science in their field with their religious understanding, through the General Courses of IRE. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method with data collection techniques through observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The findings show that the creativity of the lecturer in correlating the understanding of Islamic teachings with the student^s scientific field is one thing that inspires students to be able to improve their knowledge with a critical experience of their religion.
