While previous research have highlights the technological advantages of mPOS, there are few research that critically assessed their practical effectivity in the operations of retail businesses. This research examined the technological advantage of mPOS in the improvement of sales management, inventory management, and record-keeping. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive design, data were gathered from 31 micro retailers using mPOS through a validated survey instrument. The results indicated that mPOS is most adopted widely in food-related enterprises and among emerging businesses despite of limited capital. The mPOS system was overall effective in increasing the efficiency of operating the business, with the results highlighting the highest impact on sales management and record-keeping, while inventory management are, though proven effective, showed slightly lower level. No relationship can be found between any type of business profile and the effectiveness of mPOS based on statistical analysis, showing that mPOS can be used by a variety of businesses. In the face of these advantages, adoption is still limited by lack of publicity as well as integration issues. It is with this regard that the study recommends to formulate a policy that would introduce a structured training program designed to facilitate the capacity of micro business retailers to take advantage of the technological advancements of mPOS.
