Abstract

Halal tourism development is one of the key strategies to enhance the competitiveness of tourism destinations in Indonesia. Alamendah Village, located in Bandung Regency, is one of the tourism villages that has begun to implement halal tourism principles by providing appropriate amenities, accessibility, and services tailored to the needs of Muslim travelers. This study aims to identify the activities of the Halal Tourism Village Observatory and to understand the level of awareness and community involvement in the development of halal tourism. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, field observation, documentation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The findings reveal that the observatory acts as a center for coordination, research, and monitoring of halal tourism development. Its activities include capacity building for local tourism actors, preparation of technical modules, and community empowerment in providing Muslim-friendly services. Although several aspects of halal tourism have been implemented, there is still limited technical understanding among local actors, particularly regarding procedures toward halal certification. The availability of practical and accessible technical guidelines is highly needed to support consistent application of halal standards in the field. Cross-sectoral support and collaboration among stakeholders are crucial to strengthening the sustainable development of halal tourism villages.
