Abstract

The issue of production bottlenecks in the electronics manufacturing industry continues to pose a significant threat to operational efficiency, resulting in higher production costs, prolonged lead times, and reduced competitiveness. To address this challenge, this study explores the main determinants of production management practices that can help eliminate these bottlenecks and improve overall productivity. Four key determinants are emphasized, namely Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Lean Six Sigma practices, the integration of digital tools, and effective reduction of lead time. The research framework is guided by the Theory of Constraints (TOC), which provides a structured approach to identifying, managing, and eliminating constraints that hinder production flow. A quantitative research design was employed through the administration of a well-structured questionnaire distributed to 200 respondents from leading Malaysian electronic manufacturing corporations. The study aims to analyze how these determinants influence efficiency and contribute to minimizing downtime while enhancing process performance. The expected findings are projected to provide a comprehensive model that can guide manufacturing firms in streamlining their production processes, reducing operational costs, and strengthening their competitiveness in the global market. This research contributes both theoretically and practically by offering actionable strategies for sustaining growth in the electronics manufacturing sector.
