Abstract

The semiconductor industry in Malaysia is increasingly embracing technological innovations to enhance inventory control, minimize human error, and improve supply chain efficiency. A critical focus area is the adoption of advanced inventory technologies, which support real-time tracking, data accuracy, and operational agility. However, successful implementation of these technologies is influenced by several factors that determine adoption outcomes.

This study investigates the critical success factors and key challenges associated with adopting inventory technologies within the Malaysian semiconductor industry. An exploratory research design employing a qualitative approach was adopted to gain in-depth insights from a selected organization. Data were collected through structured interviews with employees directly involved in inventory and supply chain operations. Thematic analysis was used to identify key patterns and themes.

The findings highlight significant enablers and barriers that influence the successful adoption of inventory technologies. This research offers practical recommendations to help semiconductor firms enhance inventory management performance and sustain competitiveness in a rapidly evolving industry.
