SOCIALIZATION AND ASSISTANCE IN MANAGING TOURISM AWARENESS GROUPS IN MEKARBUANA VILLAGE, KARAWANG DISTRICT - WEST JAVA

Abstract

Mekarbuana Village located in Tegalwaru, Karawang district, West Java, is about 45km from the center of Karawang, and has potential for agro-tourism and natural tourism such as Curug Cigentis, Curug Bandung, and tours along the river. This tourist destination is a favorite destination of both locals and citizens around Karawang to spend the weekend with their family. Due to the tourism potential, the village chief acknowledged that He wants to bring Mekarbuana Village into a tourism village, but still needed support and enhanced human resource capacity (HRM) to manage the village. The problem is that the tourism organization in the village is not functioning, so the tourism management is still not balanced. The activity methods of accompaniment, socialization, and education were carried out in integration with KKN students to the community of Mekarbuana Village. The result is the reactivation of the Pokdarwis management, the existence of the organization structure, the presence of the work plan, varied tour package, as well as the Mekarbuana Village already registered in the JADESTA. As a conclusion, they are very grateful and hope that the organization will be able to maximize its management, and consistently and professionally manage the tourism in the village.
