Abstract

One of the complications of Diabetes Mellitus is impaired foot perfusion which can increase the risk of ulceration and infection. Decreased foot perfusion is often caused by impaired blood circulation due to poorly controlled diabetes. One approach to increasing foot perfusion in diabetics is through a diabetic foot exercise program. The aim of this Community Service is to increase the knowledge and skills of diabetes mellitus sufferers in performing diabetic foot exercises to improve foot perfusion. In this activity, training is carried out on leg exercise techniques specifically designed to increase blood flow to the lower extremities. Counseling on monitoring the condition of the feet, and implementing a healthy lifestyle for vascular health.
The methods used include outreach to the diabetic community, direct diabetic foot exercise training, as well as monitoring and evaluating the development of foot perfusion during the intervention period. Foot perfusion data is measured by assessing clinical symptoms such as pain or tingling.
The results showed a significant increase in foot perfusion in diabetes mellitus sufferers who took part in diabetic foot exercises. Sufferers report decreased pain symptoms and increased foot comfort. In conclusion, diabetic foot exercises are an effective intervention in increasing foot perfusion in people with diabetes mellitus. This community service shows the importance of non-pharmacological approaches in the management of diabetes complications.
