Bojonegoro National Geopark Development Study Based on Community Participation, Step Towards Unesco Global Geoparks (UGGp)

Abstract

Bojonegoro National Geopark is one of the national ranked geoparks in Indonesia which was inaugurated in 2017. Bojonegoro National Geopark is located in Bojonegoro Regency, East Java Province with the main theme of Petroleum Geoheritage. As one of the nationally ranked Geopark, Bojonegoro National Geopark have a target to develop and become part of the Unesco Global Geoparks (UGGp). Therefore, there needs to be a study on things that need to be improved and developed in the form of Bojonegoro National Geopark area development plan. Data collection was carried out by field visits and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving stakeholders and communities around the Geopark area. Based on the results of SWOT analysis from aspirations obtained through Focus Group Discussion, first thing that has to be fixed is coordinating and restructuring the management system of Bojonegoro National Geopark. Then, based on the proposal for development of geoheritage, Bojonegoro National Geopark have to improve infrastructure such as road access, signboards and information boards at the geosite location as well as the improvement of guiding skills and knowledge for local guides (short term). The next step is regarding the development of public infrastructure, empowerment of non-guide communities, and development of villages from destination locations to become geotourism-based tourist villages (medium - long term). With these points, it is hoped that it can be used by stakeholders as a guide in developing for the Bojonegoro National Earth Park Area as one of the UNESCO Global Geoparks.
