The Potential of Wallanae as Global Geopark and World Heritage

Abstract

The geodiversity together with the ecological resources and profound cultural heritages provide a valuable basic for geopark development. Regency of Bone, Soppeng & Wajo has abundant culture artefacts and interesting geological, paleontological and ecological sites especially uniqueness & universal value of Wallanae Valley. The aim of this study is to show the possibilities of geological interpretation, biodiversity, and cultural heritages in the area of Wallanae Valley that would become valuable basic to promote geopark and world heritage. The initial study was carried out by literature review and field observation survey last year. The results of this study indicate that the Wallane has a high potential for global geopark and world heritage.
