THE EFFECTIVENESS OF STEM-BASED FLIPBOOK LEARNING MEDIA TO IMPROVE THE LEARNING OUTCOMES OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum requires teachers to have skills in utilizing technology as an effort to improve the quality of learning in schools. The focus of essential material in the Independent Curriculum is in-depth learning for basic competencies such as literacy and numeracy. One of the basic literacy is digital literacy. The current era is indeed a digital era that requires all fields to undergo digitalization, including the field of education, which must be followed by the adaptation of the abilities of teachers, especially elementary school teachers. In fact, there are still elementary school teachers who are still not technologically literate and not proficient in utilizing the latest applications that can be used to create learning media. The urgency of the research is motivated by the low learning outcomes of students caused by the lack of ability to understand the material, this must be overcome as an effort to improve students^ cognition. The objectives of this study are 1) to determine the learning outcomes of school students before and after the implementation of STEM-based flipbook learning media and (2) to determine the effectiveness of STEM-based flipbook learning media on improving the ability to understand material in elementary school students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a type of experimental research of one group pretest-posttest design. The research data collection technique uses a test technique with a research instrument in the form of an evaluation question sheet. Prerequisite tests (Normality and Homogeneity Test). The hypothesis test uses 1) the N-gain test to determine the improvement of learning outcomes before and after the implementation of STEM-based Flipbook learning media and 2) the t-test to determine the effectiveness of STEM-based Flipbook learning media in improving learning outcomes. The results of the study showed. The results of the study showed that the hypothesis test obtained a significance value of STEM-based flipbook learning media, which was 0.001. So it can be concluded that the use of STEM-based flipbook learning media can improve learning outcomes has a significance of 0.001 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. So, it can be concluded that STEM-based flipbook learning media is effective in improving student learning outcomes.
