Abstract

Environmental damage in Indonesia is currently increasing, this occurs due to environmental pollution from domestic and industrial activities. To reduce the impact of even greater damage, the government issued government regulation (PP) No. 59 of 2917 concerning the Implementation of Sustainable Development Achievement (TPB) and in 2021 the government issued government regulation No. 22 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Environmental Protection and Management. This government regulation is a guideline for environmental protection from both domestic and industrial activities and others.

In line with regulations issued by the government, the lean manufacturing approach seeks to improve product quality to suit consumer demand (Customer-Driven) by eliminating 7 wastes in the production process such as excessive movement in the production process, waiting time, excessive production, disability, inventory and transportation (C Ramune and V Milita, 2012). While the Green manufacturing approach aims to create environmentally friendly products by preventing and reducing impacts on the environment in the production process through clean production, efforts can be made to prevent and reduce waste with the 1E4R (Elimination, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recovery/Reclaim) strategy (UNEP, 1999), which was then adopted in 2003 by the Ministry of Environment and policy. The main principles in the clean production strategy in the National Clean Production Policy are outlined in the 5R (Re-think, Re-use, Reduce, Recovery and Recycle). It is hoped that the combination of these 2 approaches will become an indicator and implementation in efforts to create quality and environmentally friendly products, especially in the FurnituristiQ production house as a case study in this research.
