Mapping of Political Hoaxes on Social Media Ahead of the 2024 Simultaneous Local Elections

This study aims to map hoaxes related to the 2024 Local Elections by collecting data on election hoaxes through the analysis of data spread on Twitter. Data collection took place from May 15 to July 12 and will resume from August 1 to September 15, 2024. These dates were chosen because the emergence of hoaxes is expected to be more intense as the local elections approach. However, due to the need to complete the research report, data collection could not be conducted in October, one month before the 2024 elections. The method used involves data mining and sentiment analysis using the NodeXL and Asigta applications. The results of the study show the pattern of hoax dissemination networks on Twitter. Network analysis reveals that several Twitter accounts with high degree centrality significantly influence the spread of hoaxes related to the 2024 local elections. Community clusters that form tend to collectively reinforce incorrect views. The majority sentiment of tweets related to the 2024 election hoaxes is predominantly negative, with a significant amount of false information being published to influence public opinion.
