Abstract
The waste management problem in Palembang is increasing due to the growing population, which requires an efficient solution. Ilir Timur III sub-district, a result of regional expansion, is facing a significant increase in waste production. This study discusses the optimization of the location of temporary waste disposal sites (TWDS) in Ilir Timur III sub-district of Palembang to improve waste management efficiency. The genetic algorithm approach is used to find an optimal solution. Based on the results and discussion, there are 11 optimal TWDS in Ilir Timur III sub-district. This study recommends adding TWDS in Ilir Timur III sub-district, including 4 TWDS in 8 Ilir village, 2 TWDS in Duku village, and 3 TWDS in Kuto Batu village.
