Communication Strategy in the Speech of the President of Indonesia: as a Strengthening of Representation of Javanese Local Wisdom a,b,c, Indonesian Education Study Program, Postgraduate Program, Universitas Veteran Bangun Nusantara, Sukoharjo, Indonesia Abstract The speech is a language of public interest bound by many cultural norms. In multicultural Indonesia, speech speakers use communication strategies through the use of local wisdom with a cultural background, namely Javanese. This study aims to describe the communication strategy in the speech of the Indonesian president as a representation of Javanese local wisdom. The research method uses a qualitative approach. The sources of the data are the speech texts address of the Republic of Indonesia by three presidents, Suharto, SBY, and Jokowi. Data collection through reading and recording based on data characteristics, communication strategy expression. Data analysis was carried out by confirming between language expression data with theory of representation, and Javanese local wisdom. The results showed that the various communication strategies used in the president^s speech included strategies: emphasis on shared values, empathy and emotional engagement, clarification and education, uplifting speaking style, transparency, international context, use of symbols and metaphors, focus on solutions, community involvement.The implication is that the choice of communication strategy in the form of word choices derived from Javanese local wisdom in the president^s speech for the field of language education can provide national education about the diversity of value content in each language choice broadly for all people of the country.
