The Effect Construction Waste Inclusion in Soft Soil as Vertikal Drain Department of Civil Engineering, Brawijaya University, Malang Indonesia Abstract Green technology decreases environmental effect by recycling and reusing technological items. However, due to environmental concerns, the outcomes of building destruction generate a large amount of concrete trash. This research offered a system for reusing concrete refuse to improve soil shear strength. Buildings located on low bearing capacity soil (soft soils) are one of the causes of construction failure. It is important to enhance in order to meet specifications. The goal of this study is to examine the effect of incorporating construction waste into soft soil as a vertical drain wrapped in columnar geotextile to accelerate consolidation and increase soil-bearing capacity. Several measurements, including sieve analysis, constant head, and unconfined compressive strength, are used to specify core material. The constant head was utilized to assess the gradation of concrete fragments to create the core of a column. As the core material, a gradation with considerable permeability was chosen. Consolidation testing was performed on columns with diameters of 3.0 cm, 4.85 cm, 6.7 cm, and 8.6 cm. To implement the site condition, modified consolidation equipment was implemented. Consolidated soft soil is used in triaxial tests to assess shear strength. Based on the consolidation test findings, the most appropriate diameter variation for a vertical drain is 3.00 cm. The use of demolition waste as a vertical drain can increase soft soil shear strength performance as well as accelerating consolidation.
