Rural Women and Social Media: Social Reconstruction through a Humanities Lens in Indonesia 1 National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia Abstract This article discusses the implications of social media use in the daily lives of rural women in four provinces in Indonesia, namely North, Central, West and Gorontalo Sulawesi. This research uses quantitative descriptive analysis method and qualitative data as support. The results showed that rural women use social media to expand and strengthen their resource, economic, and so-cio-cultural capabilities with their environment. Social media also provides opportunities for rural women to engage in community activities and work together in partnerships. However, there are still some rural women who dis-agree with the use of social media in providing active participation and co-operation opportunities. In addition, this study also shows that rural women have a habit of tracing the truth of information obtained through social me-dia, but there are still some who rarely or do not confirm the search for the truth of the information.
