Abstract

In this work, iron sand was used in the synthesis of chromium ferrite ferrofluid for magnetic sensor application. The characterizations were carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), ultraviolet visible (UV-Vis) spectrometer and magnetic field sensor test. The produced ferrofluid had a filler particle size of 8.6 nm. The result of SEM data analysis showed that the morphology of the chromium ferrite nanoparticles was spherical in shape and had a diameter range of 20-30 nm. The band gap value for the prepared ferrofluid was 2.6 eV. The intensity in the magnetic field sensor test for chromium ferrite ferrofluid was 12 lux. Therefore, the chromium ferrite ferrofluid can be used as a magnetic field sensor in the future.
