Willem Iskandar, Pasar V Barat Medan Estate, *) saidun[at]unimed.ac.id Abstract This study aims to examine the effect of entrepreneurial competence and education on the performance of small industrial enterprises and the mediating role of self-efficacy on the effect of entrepreneurial competence and education on the performance of small businesses. This quantitative research was conducted on a leading small industry in the city of Medan, which is engaged in the leather shoes and wood furniture industry, totaling 250 businesses and a sample of 154 businesses using the slovin formula and proportional random sampling technique. Research data were obtained by questionnaire. Data analysis using SEM-PLS. The study^s results prove that entrepreneurial competence and non-formal education affect the performance of small industries. Self-efficacy acts as a mediator variable on the influence of entrepreneurial competence on the performance of small industries. However, it is not proven as a mediating variable on the influence of formal and non-formal education.
